Deeply rooted and mainly operating with the aim of enriching Africa’s wellness industry for more than 10 years now, the Spa & Wellness Association of Africa (SWAA) is a non-profit organisation founded by Elaine Okeke-Martin and led by expert volunteers. They unite Member National Spa and Wellness Societies, Businesses, Educators and individual members to develop and maintain internationally recognised standards while giving members a platform to channel their voice for the spa and wellness industry in Africa.

Brief
After coming in contact with some of our works through Seven Colours, Elaine very quickly came to the conclusion that our team was going to be the perfect fit for her future advertising needs having for a fact that both of our companies rely on a very important aspect: mindfulness. From a simple logo rebranding (featured here), we partnered up with SWAA and took care of all of their graphic needs while being in two different countries, and therefore timezones.

A concept by SWAA

With the 3 previous conferences having been successful, going big on the 4th was the obvious route to go down. The 4th Annual SWAA Conference, therefore, saw itself being hosted in the prestigious resort of Sarova bringing in speakers and moderators from the four corners of the world to discuss this year’s theme: Supporting Sustainable Wellness in Africa & Medical Health Tourism Development.
The Spa & Wellness Association of Africa thrives on wellness through diversity and has been a concept that was even presented and discussed during the UN summit of 2019.

A concept by SWAA

After months of preparation, the 5th Annual SWAA Conference was to be held in the beautiful setting that Val-de-Vie’s Resort had to offer. But with the COVID pandemic putting a halt to everything on a global scale, the conference had to unfortunately be cancelled. It was later rescheduled to September 2021, which was also digitalised and broadcasted to members and attendees who could not be there in person.
Built in 2010, SWAA has undergone a lot of graphic changes over the past few years, never really sticking to a deeply-rooted brand world. After being approached by the founder, we decided to revamp the whole look of the brand by applying our minimalist palette of ideas. Our only challenge was to keep some features of the previous identity which we were not against. We, therefore, came up with a freshened up as well as properly established graphic baggage for the organisation’s image which will hopefully make it last longer. From the branding derived other collaterals and elements except for their social media platforms and website design.

A prestigious event that takes place on the last day of the Annual SWAA Conference during the Gala Dinner, the Africa Spa Awards (ASA) commits to supporting excellence throughout the industry may it be in the educational, managerial or business sector of the wellness field. By recognising talent and hard work, SWAA also enhances its credibility as a leading and innovative association.
